MLS 2017 teams with early-1970's Football League kits
Imagine, if you will, that the MLS teams of 2017 were playing in the Football League of England and Wales in the early 1970's. Yes, that's pretty much the flimsy premise that this feature hangs upon, and yet the rendering of these kits was not as straight-forward as you might think.
For a start, and purely to retain a level of authenticity, I had to take into account the use of colours like grey and gold in the modern football kit palate. Such colours wouldn't have been seen in the Football League all those years ago, and you certainly wouldn't have seen an all-black shirt unless it was being worn by the referee.
With that in mind, I've used artistic licence and a healthy imagination to create alternative interpretations of those MLS kits that simply wouldn't have existed nearly 50 years ago. In some cases, I've had to create a completely new kit, and for fans of those teams who are unreasonably irritated by such a thought, please forgive my impishness. This is just a bit of fun and is in no way an intention to offend on my part. These are MLS kits of 2017 boiled down to the simple design trends of a bygone age. Enjoy...
