1977-78

Hibernian becomes the first British team to have shirt sponsorship when their kit supplier, Bukta, displays its wordmark on the Hi-Bees' kit.

Racing Santander becomes the first team in La Liga history to wear a Puma kit.

France wear the green and white striped shirts of club team Kimberley de Mar del Plata in their 1978 World Cup match against Hungary. Both sides have arrived for the first round match with only their white change kits. France went on to win the match 3-1.
